Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Front license plate frame or bracket, same on all 57 Mopars I believe. Maybe the the same on 58 too. This is for a '57 Imperial.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 309 Location: Western Colorado | Does the frame mount to the bottom of the bumper with two 1/4" bolts, spaced 7/8" apart? Bob

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | I ended up making my own. The only hard part was making the slots on a mill. But if you get an old Mopar bracket from a '40-up, you can use the same slotted bracket, and it will be a near identical match. Then Just form the other part to make it work. Extreme Veteran Posts: 309 Location: Western Colorado | This is what the license plate mount looks like for a 58 New Yorker. Similar, but with slots to adjust to get straight? Nice job on re-creating a new mount!! Bob (58 New Yorker front license plate mount 001.JPG) Attachments ---------------- 58 New Yorker front license plate mount 001.JPG (116KB - 111 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | This is a bracket from a late '40's? Mopar. The mount is too thick to use, but the slotted bracket is nearly identical to the original '50's bracket. So just get one of these, drill out the spot welds, make your own cross piece (which is easy to do), and weld them together. And then you will have a bracket that is practically identical to the original without a lot of work. I stumbled on this easy solution *after* I had made mine from scratch. Extreme Veteran Posts: 309 Location: Western Colorado | For the price of freight, you would probably be better off making one. If you really want my spare, send me a PM. I'll sell it, but it won't be cheap if you consider the cost of shipping. Bob

Expert Posts: 1316 Location: Belgium, 40 miles south of Brussels | Not sure it's the same after all ... On my '58 Plymouth, I have 2 holes just under the front bumper, spaced 8" apart. So I guess it's another type of bracket.

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Looks exactly like what I need. I know for sure that 57 Dodge and 57 Imperial are the same. Good info on making one!!
