Hi, I know this is slightly later than the forward look era but since they are both push button transmission, commonly, I think they'll overlap.

My friends 62 custom 880 has a leaking o ring where the cable goes into the trans to change gears. I had one that was identical so I'm assuming someone put the wrong one in so I tried a slightly larger outside diameter and inside diameter, hoping it would take up more space, but it didn't work. I'm hoping there's someone on here that has some of those o rings or can help me out in some way. They aren't hard to change but every time you do, you have to drain the fluid and clean up the gasket surface etc. Having the exact correct o ring going in would be wonderful.

Thanks,

Wayne

The dimensions of the O ring are: OD= .700" ID= .500" Thickness= .100"

Be sure it's the O ring leaking and not the cable sheath.

I think your freinds car has "converter drain back" which is the fluid leaking back into the trans and over filling it

This is common and not really a problem

Normally it will be the cable itself leaking and/or the small seal for the kickdown shaft

To fix the seal, it needs to be a new one, to fix the cable, just put some "duel wall" heatshrink on it (has a hot melt glue inside it)

You do not need to drop the pan to remove the cable, you access the clip that holds the cable in through the neutral switch hole
