Location: Eastern Iowa | Junk, are not sealed and cut through the insulation and more than likely some of the wire strands in the process.
NOT for use in damp locations for sure.
Water will wick up into the wire strands and rot causing deterioration of the whole wire eventually.
Cheap fix for the lazy man or flipper.

Location: Western Colorado | Absolute JUNK. With over 45 years in the mechanical field I have fixed literally hundreds of "wire repairs" where this type of connector was used. Moisture/salt/mag chloride will wick into the wires and can ruin the wire for many, many feet and can even attack the device the wire feeds.

If severe punishment by hanging from the gonads was possible on shoddy automotive electrical work, the guys who use these should get it. Twice.

At the risk of expressing what might be considered to be a negative opinion, but just trying to be positively helpful here, and from bad experiences (the great teacher), you are absolutely correct sir. |
