Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | SMS called me last night replying to an email I sent last June. She said they found original rear only floor mats for my 1960 Suburban in brown. Brown would probably work with the color of my car or I guess they could be dyed, but only for the rear? My car still had the heavy rubber mats when I bought it and they were black. Were the offered in other colors? Does anyone still have a floor mat in their 1960 Plymouth? I was wondering if they actually are original mats and would like to see a picture of the pattern. Thanks, Karl.

Expert Posts: 1476 Location: Pacific Northwest | Yes there were colored rubber mat "carpets". Base model cars got black. Mid level car were color coordinated with the interior. I've yet to see literature that indicates colors and codes for these. My IBM card indicated a colored mat. Being that it is long since removed I cannot determine which color it is supposed to be.

Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Sorry, I knew what I was thinking and didn't think how others might read this. I mean the full rubber carpet replacements in Suburbans. Were they offered in colors other than black and do any of them still survive? Not knowing anything about MOPARS of this era[still knowing little] when I bought my Suburban. The thick sound insulation underneath was soaked. It and the mats smelled musty so I tossed everything. I thought the mats were Pep Boys or something and went to carpet. NOW, I have to get back to SMS and see if we are talking about the same thing although I am fairly sure that I was very spacific to them. Even so, at this time they have only found the rear mat for a 1960 Suburban.

Expert Posts: 3775 Location: NorCal | Check section 23-20-8 in the '60 parts manual for floor mats, not carpets.
