To anyone that is interested.

Around 9 years ago, I replaced my springs in my 2 seater 318/auto 1960 Plymouth Suburban with the same 6 leaf springs that were in it. Still it bottomed harder than I would expect on small potholes. I added air shocks which helped but isn't the best way to go so because of the extra weight in spare parts and tools that I carry + sometimes towing my boat, I recently installed a complete 7 leaf spring.

I can feel it rides just a LITTLE harder but seems a little better cornering so I am happy with the overall ride. Although I forgot to measure the height before, I don't think I can see any difference. I was told by the manufactorer that it would sit 1/2"-1" higher but with the length of the car, IF it is higher, it really isn't noticible to me and I can adjust the front if I need to.

Even though the shop manual says it is normal for a spring to show a reverse arch, I like the look of a positive arch that it now has and it has to be easier on the springs themselves.

I bought the springs from ESPO Springs 'n Things in central Pa. for $390 a pair including installed bushings[#23-831 7 LEAF SPRING + 1/2-1"]. Shipping + 6% Pa. tax brought the total to $467.34. I believe they have other outlets around the country?

Maybe this info can help someone?
Karl.

So $50.88 for shipping two springs? That's a steal! I paid around $150 to ship the 7 leafs for my Satellite wagon from Eaton Detroit. But even then, the cost was well worth the change in the car's handling & load capacity. Probably the 2nd biggest improvement I made to the car; the first being to get rid of the really crappy factory single exhaust. The unbelieveable restriction at the junction of the two pipes made me think there was something horribly wrong with the transmission or motor. I can't believe it remained that way for 40 years!

I had them shipped to a local business that saved me a few $s as compared to my house. Freight was $53.94. It is around a 3 hr drive[1 way] for me so I figured it was worth it. I'm guessing they have there own delivery trucks and I am on there way to Philly so it was probably just a stop along the way?
