Member Posts: 17 Location: Humboldt Kansas | Just stopping in to say hi. I've been lurking for acouple weeks now and just now got around to creating an account. My dad started my love for these cars when he told stories of his 57 custom royal lancer he had years ago, unfortunately that car is long gone but I do have the fins hanging on the wall. Anyways, my car is a 58 Chrysler hearse that is beyond rough. I'll be gathering parts to get it moving and see where the project takes me! Don't expect a 100 point restore, but expect something that is definitely not seen every day!

IMHO the high cost and upkeep of paint is a deterrent to finishing a project. Maybe latter. Your location code would be nice, .......or not.

Member Posts: 17 Location: Humboldt Kansas | Yes, the patina will likely stay. I've never been a fan of "rat rodding" this era of car but this one is so crunchy might be a good way to keep it on the road for awhile longer. It won't be nothing too radical but definitely not a restore job.

Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Welcome! My guess is that many of us that have Suburbans and drive them regularly have been asked if our car is a hearse. I think I have been asked 3 times so far. Always thought I would have had one by now. They are relatively inexpensive to buy used, well maintained, garage kept, low milage, great conversation peice, plenty of hauling space, and hopefully no complaints from the passengers in the back like my Dad had to deal with. HAVE A GREAT DAY! Karl.
