Location: Chippewa Lake, OH | Hi,
I am in the process of purchasing a '59 Sport Fury hardtop. I am trying to decode the cowl tag and was looking for some help on it. This is what I have:
Body No: 292 03865
Trim: 338
Paint: XX (Iceberg White)
Schedule: 0102 (January 2nd, 1959?)
Serial: M296 (Sport Fury, Detroit)
103829 (103,829th built?)
Does anybody know what Trim of 338 is? Also, there are no other numbers so assuming that means no additional options?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

3865 is the Sequential number
Paint XX is all Iceberg white
Trim 338 is a copper interior.
Car had a scheduled build date of January 2nd 1959 indeed
Serial:
M- 1959
2- Plymouth, V8
9- Sport Fury
6- Build in Detroit
1- Sequential number
03829: 3828th Sport Fury build in Detroit
Any more info on the car or pics you can send me? I can tell you more then.
Don't have this one in my Sport Fury database.
I can tell you they build at least 6771 Sport Fury's in Detroit. That's the highest VIN in my database so far |

Location: Chippewa Lake, OH | Thank you for the information, Matthew!
I am still waiting to have the car shipped, so I only have the pictures from the auction and information that the seller told me. The interior was redone in turquoise, which looks like it was done fairly well to original specs. I do know that Mopar Mel had his hands on this car, which makes me a little nervous. The vin number is M296103829.

Does it have the 318 4 barrel or the 361?
Looks really nice! I can tell you so far it's missing the front valance and the buckles on the seats are wrong |
