EXCELLENT CHRISTINE CANDIDATE-PLUS IT HAS THE 392 HEMI
NOTE: Some pics are before I put the sportone on, more pics to come!
This is a 1958 Savoy 2 DR HT that has been had most of the important upgrades begun. It is an absolutely solid body. This does not mean there is not any surface rust on the undercarriage. When the car was restored 20 years ago it was done with the body on. However, there are not any holes going through the floor, trunk or rockers that I can find. There are two small holes on one piece of ancillary sheet metal. They are less than the size of a dime. For a 1958 unrestored Plymouth this is as good as you will find. In fact I was going to use the body for my restoration project, but decided I just do not have enough time to pull two bodies off and swap them so I am moving forward with my original project. I will probably regret it because this is such a solid car.
Excellent body. Nice glass, everything works fine. This is a Canadian made Plymouth and has a couple of minor differences from the US version. One thing is the extra piece of trim on the trunk. The other thing you may notice is the radiator support is slightly different and therefore the horns are in a different location. Other than that there may be a couple of other things, but I have not come across any.
Belvedere/Fury Side Trim as well as Savoy Trim. Savoy Trim will need to be removed and holes filled. Sporttone is reproduction Aluminum I bought off of Ebay.
Bumper Wings
REAL 150 MPH Fury Speedo. I installed, this is not a stick on faceplate, it is the real deal. Probably not calibrated so that is up to next owner to find the right speedo gear.
Decent set of dual rear antennas, not installed as there are not holes on the car yet. Bases will need rechrome for show.
Belvedere/Fury Deluxe Steering Wheel (the expensive one), currently blue, in very nice shape, just minor work and color change needed.
392 Hemi and Torqueflight Transmission out of a 1957 New Yorker. Mileage unknown, was told it was gone through when car was restored about 20 years ago and has been driven little since. However, it starts and runs perfect, no smoke, no slippage etc. Engine shows signs of minor leaks when sitting.. No transmission leaks. Pinion seal leaking on rear end.
Manual brakes, all work correctly. Parking brake holds on the steepest of hills. Dual exhaust, will need some work as it hangs low on one side, at least too low for my comfort.
Aftermarket period correct black seat covers. I used them because I had them from a purchase many years ago. Likely want to replace as they are not the best quality out there. Looks nice, not show. The door panels are maroon. When I bought it there was a 1970’s high back bench seat in front and I was not fond of it so I removed them and got swapped them out for these frames.
Used headliner , not perfect, but presentable and worse case you have excellent patterns. I made a center and am covering it with perforated vinyl which has foam backing, should look close to correct. I do not have set of plastic molding which goes over them.
Correct 1957 392 Hemi carb. Looks brand new but has been sitting. I am sure you would want to re-kit it.
New trunk lock and door and ignition lock sets. Trunk lock on car already.
Set of three (3) Chrysler of Canada 1957-1959 service manuals.
Once set of decent 14” 1958 Plymouth hub caps. Car has 15” wheels on it now, I do not have an extra 14” set of wheels.
Set of Christine Movie style (Roberk) side view mirrors.
Comes with roof rails, you need to install.
Polyglas tires.
I can start up and have driven it close around my neighborhood with no issues. However, the tires I put on are old, but expensive, show tires and I would not recommend a freeway trip. Also, would be smart to check all the basics before going on a long road trip. With that said, this is an excellent 1958 Plymouth 2 DR HT which are becoming very hard to find in a condition that is neither restored or junk.
Please email me at clifdavis@clifdavis.org as I do not always get to this page due to travel. If you send a phone number I will call you.
Many pics of undercarriage etc. available.
Thanks and enjoy.

Yes,

I did buy it out of Canada. Added the bumper wings, the 150 speedo, tires, removed that awful headliner it had and put in correct one etc. etc. This is not a money maker for me, just moving it out.

I remember when this one was for sale on Kijiji.

The radiator support is only different because the car had a 6 cylinder engine originally. In Canada, these cars used longer blocks 6 cyl engines that needed more length in the engine compartment. Rad support would have been the same as US if the car originally had a V8. Serial number must be a LP1W*****

Thank you!!!! I knew my car was originally a 6 cylinder like this one but never understood why my rad support was different to the others that I have seen.. I thought someone had made a cut for some reason. My car is out of Canada as well and also has the extra trim piece to lift the trunk open and close.

No problem!
Yep, that is original from the factory! It looks rather crude, almost home made, but that is really how they came out.

After having this one I have to say I really like the design of the radiator support better if you are going to swap an engine out. On the standard radiator support you have two options: either put a pretty steep angle on the engine and trans so the oil pan does not hit the radiator support (must have had to do this about 30 times or so over the years) or else remove the radiator support which is a bit of a nuisance considering some of the bolts are on the inner fender well and tend to be a little corroded and hard to access.

With the Canadian 6 cyl design you just remove the upper portion of the radiator support and you have about 18 inches more clearance vertically, meaning less angle, much easier to pull and replace engine/trans combo.

Of course, if you are doing a full resto its not an issue.

If anyone has one of these trunk trim piece / handles, I'm interested in buying it.
