Hello,
The plastic between the door panels and the doors had become brittle and crumbled allowing moisture to soften the hardboard enough so the lower clips pulled out and then the panels warped.

The vinyl is still in great shape so I figured I'd just replace the hardboard and be back in business. When I disassembled the panels, I found almost cloth-like 1/8" padding that appears to be a paper product that fit between the vinyl and the hardboard.

I bought some new water-resistant panel material from a local upholstery shop but all they had for the padding was like a 1/4 thick foam that's supposed to compress to about the right thickness.

Does anyone know what the original padding material is and if it's still available? I thought about just getting some 1/8 thick felt because I think trying to compress the foam would be tricky being the vinyl has a memory and is a little stiff around the edges.

Just curious what anyone else has used for a similar repair.

Thanks

I am going to be using laminate flooring underlay foam (about 3/32" thick) for that exact task.
