That's an interesting find. I'm surprised to see the hemi is still in it. Not much to work with in terms of body, frame, interior, trim, etc.

Not sure even our Scandinavian members would call that restorable. I like how the seller says "I DONT NEED ANY SMART COMMENTS ABOUT HOW ROUGH IT IS"

I suppose. Seems a bit ambitiously priced though.

LOL. Sure they would (restore it). It's got a VIN tag and an engine, it's restorable.

What is shocking (to me) is sections of the frame have disappeared due to rust??? WTH?

like many high end resotors, just need a title/vin and engine that one is going to cost a lot. I think he's a little overpriced though

Some things are hard to get, that hood is in very bad shape and those are gone im pretty sure and that whole interior and complete engine rebuild is going to be crazy expensive.

300C are so popular parts are kind of available though.

parked (probably running) in 81 OUTSIDE a shed. smart decision, even a $20 tarp would have been a wise investment. were these people living behind the moon? i'm mean if you can't see the beauty in this piece of american history, well okay, you must be some sort of monkey but these cars were already valuable 30 years ago leaving it rot outside is money lost. how stupid can one be?

anyway, a fl car is lost. to "restore" another car has to die and this is mostly a much, much nicer (imo) looking and driving hardtop.

If anyone here buys it, I'll donate for free a good non-convertible frame. That oughta solve 90% of the car's issues lol.

I agree that the price is kind of high but I remember when you could buy convertible basket cases for $5K. The frame is gone along with doors trunk and most sheet metal. Like someone said, you are paying for a convertible mechanism, some glass and some badging. Everything else would have to come from a donor or major fabrication. I would say maube half what he is asking and it would have to be to someone who has 300 parts and a donor car. It is sad.

My 58 Adventurer convertible looked like this when I found it. It
landed in a wrecking yard in 1963 after the frame and body collapsed
just as this one has. Another 20+ years left outside finished the job.

Patience and a bit of networking can produce a coupe frame, and
there is bound to be body sections to patch together to make it complete.
The biggest challenge I faced was building the convertible-only wheel
tubs. Most of the rest of the convertible body parts survived OK, but
the leaves had piled up on those tubs and rusted even the tops of them
gone.

The key parts are the convertible-only stuff. If they are present, the
game is in your favor ! Just takes perseverence !

Compare it to the first couple of shots before this one was moved......you have no idea what that Dodge looked like after it was removed from it's resting spot....it could have broken into multiple pieces....

Hard to believe the motor remained intact over all the years. Really amazing that the air cleaners are still on it. They look pretty pitted though. Pretty sure the oil pan is gone, so the botom end is probably toast.

It probably was not for sale at any price in the 80's when parked in more salvageable condition.. There are those owners whose motto is "No, I won't sell it.. I will restore it some day"...

Call me weird, but I find exceptional field relics like this
even more exciting and interesting than pristine show cars.
If a person wanted to see a flawless, restored 300c convertible
in white, there are no shortage of examples to be found.

To find a car like this, in this condition, is just amazing !
Maybe it's the old school barn hunter, picker, junk heap
scrounger in me, but I think this car would just be plain
awesome left as is, propped up like you see it in that sway
back side photo, ... a centerpiece for a shop. A relic, preserved
as the vision it is, of how so many of these great cars were
found. With almost every one of these that survives restored
to perfection, I think I prefer this one just as it sits, for what
it represents. If a person wants a nice one, just go buy one.
They are out there. This one is special for what it is.

Completely agreed.

All one has to do is slide down to Barrett-Jackson every January (I live approximately 65 miles west of Scottsdale in Az.) to see a "perfect" one in person or Google for about .6 seconds to see pages & pages of "perfect" examples. Where's the fun in that?

Like with collecting 78rpm records, the hunt and uncover is half the fun.

Couple of weeks ago, an old friend of mine - his brother got evicted and gave me an inside line on his stash of 78's. Long story short, for 2 packs of Camels, I gave the family stash a loving home. They were stacked in a 2-2 1/2 foot tall canister and, while I was expecting a few broken, these were acquired "sight unseen" and I honestly expected to find a heap of disposable 1940's-very early 1950's pop (Frankie Laine, Rosemary Clooney et al).

Most of the records had the name "Doris" written on the label and, whoever she is or may have been, she must've been one hell of a hep kitten who either turned 18 sometime in the late 1940's or was a master smuggler into the family home with these heavy 78rpm discs.

One right after the other: Louis Jordan, Jimmy Liggins, Amos Milburn, Charles Brown, Johnny Ace, Sonny Boy Williamson, The Orioles, Jimmy Witherspoon, Percy Mayfield, Lowell Fulson, Wynonie Harris, The Dominoes, Otis Rush, Gene Vincent and on and on and on.....

As we know, the 300C engine number matches the number stamped into the frame. FRAME? Not this time.
The VIN tag was a different sequence.

The problem now is on what basis will the new owner order the papers from Chrysler Historical. There are too many digits in the VIN provided and 300C VINs never got as high as 3N57-7___ anyhow. And the other problem is the engine number indicates a New Yorker block; it has no '3' prefix.

Got it. Im not that familiar with the VIN number but, yeah, the engine should start 3NE57. I didnt catch that. With the internet, though, it is hard to bring back a car without someone knowing the history.
