Location: San Antonio TX | So I'm seriously looking into getting a 57/58 Desoto soon, and one of the things I was wondering was the differences in the external body panels. Are all the body panels on the 126" wheelbase Desoto interchangeable with the body panels of the 126" wheelbase Chrysler? They look identical, but I just want to be sure. Also, with the 122" wheelbase models, are all the differences in body work from the 126" cars just in the front front of the vehicle like they are in the 60/61 Chryslers? With the 59's, aside from the front and rear, are the body panels the same as the 57's/58's? With hardtops and sedans, are front panels interchangeable with each other?
I'm asking because I figure when I do eventually purchase my Desoto, I'll probably looking at some patchwork considering the price I want to pay. If I can source some sheet metal from Chryslers as well as Desotos, it will make finding replacement pieces much easier for me. Thanks for all the advice!

| they are very similar, I think you can say "yes" generally. I don't know about the 122 vs 126
Fenders are different slightly, search on that.
sedans and 2door hard tops differ obviously around the doors but you can generally use fins back and forth.(up to a point). Plymouths have the body crease in the tail which makes them rough.

Location: San Antonio TX | Sounds great. That is going to make it a bit less difficult to source sheet metal for them when I eventually do get one (or two if this deal I'm currently working on works out). |
