I have the Adventurer model. I do not believe this is a serious issue with the transmission. If I barely accelerate, the trans shifts fine and normal. If I drive normal, there is a hard shift from 1st to 2nd around 10 MPH and then it "slips in" from 2nd to 3rd at around 15 MPH. The car sat for some time. There is no burnt smell in the trans fluid. The mechanic threw some Lucas in it and said drive it for awhile and it should get better. It really has not. But again, I do not see this as a serious issue. The trans does NOT leak. I presume that there is some sort of "adjustment" on the rod. If the car had a "modulator valve", it would be an easy fix. But the car does not. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

The linkage between the throttle and the transmission controls the road speed at which the transmission upshifts and, to some degree, the firmness of the shift. Lengthening the linkage (adjust at point "F") will make the trans shift later.

Your mechanic was probably thinking that the slipping on the 2-3 upshift was due to hardened seals in the rear clutch (thus the Lucas additive) and he might be right. If a linkage adjustment doesn't stop the slippage, bad seals are the probable cause.

Agreed, plus the 2-3 is too early, this is also a function of internal line pressure.
