Hello all. This is my first post here. I've checked this site for many years as I love the Mid 50s Mopars. My first car was a 57 Plaza 2d sedan, 301 four barrel Powerflite. Sold it when I joined the Navy and have never lost my love for the fin era cars. I have two 64 Sport Furys, which are my other favorite cars (I bought one in 1967 when I was in the Navy), but have kept looking for a 57 Plymouth to work on. Well, fast forward to this week. I just got back from a trip to Phoenix to bring this home. It's a 57 Belvedere 2d sedan. No engine or tx (does have push buttons for the Torqueflite). All the trim is there and in great shape. Only one small rust hole behind left rear wheel well. Floors solid. The interior is literally toast from sitting in the sun for so long. 46,000 miles on the clock (500 miles more than an oil change sticker on the door, from 6-65!

Anyway, thanks for all the inspiration over the years to keep the interest alive. For the first time in 51 years I sat behind the wheel of a 57 Plymouth. I'll be back with lots of questions, I'm sure.

Wayne

I haven't decided on a drive train yet. I do have a 440 I could rebuild but also will consider a gen3 hemi. I'd like to be able to use the PB shifter. Both my Sport Furys are 4-speeds so I want this one to be an automatic.

I'll post more pictures soon.

Some additional photos of the car. I do not recall seeing the stainless mesh over the cowl heater intake, Is that very common and I just haven't paid attention? Is was a fun trip driving home towing the car. Got lots of comments every place we would stop. The fin cars do attract attention.

Get used to the attention, Wayne! A fine car you've got there. Welcome again to the group.

Nice! Our friend in AZ (copper state) has new windshields for sale from time to time. Plinkerton brand tinted with shaded bands or clear. Heck, he has a 1957 4 door sedan with full suite of used Solex for $500! Marc.

Speaking of Navy:

Black and white, might fit:
