Can anyone with hands on experience tell what year this intake was manufactured. I've included a photo of the numbers on the intake #1827899-1 K247

The intake shown is correct for all 1959-1962 Chrysler products with the 383ci engine except for the 300E and 300H. They didn't change the part number at all during that duration, so it would be "Correct" for any of those years. The "K 24 7" would refer to the year, day, and month that the item was produced. As to what the "K" signifies, I have been wondering that very thing for quite awhile. Dodge had a really neat system of tracking years on their casting numbers in 1955-1957, but sadly, Chrysler didn't follow suit afterwards.

I'll check out my intakes tomorrow, and get back to you on possibly figuring out a manufacturing date

I have 5 of these intakes, the date codes are:

K 10 7
K 31 7
J 16 7
K 30 7
J 17 7

I have also seen a few "M" coded intake manifolds with this part number, so until someone can really decode the dates I'm at a loss...

According to my info, the last digit is the year, so 7= 1957

The letter is for a month of the year: A-January B-February C-March D-April E-May F-June
G-July H-August J-September K-October L-November M-December (The letter "I" was not used)

If that's correct, the example in the OP is dated October 24, 1957 which would be a 1958 model year.

^There we go, I knew I'd screwed up somewhere! That makes more sense then. That still would mean though that all these intakes were dated from 1957 but used on cars all the way through 1962? Which I guess means that they casted a huge pile of them and just used them throughout the years as needed... I guess.

Well then, I have another big question then. Just checked the intake on my 1959 Dodge convert, and the code is "6 15 5". That doesn't match to anything we've discussed here. Yes, it is the same part number (1827899-1), and yes I am certain that is a "6" as the 1st number. :/

Hi
I am also looking for a dual carb setup for my 59 dodge crl conv. the problem is that my car is a D500 383 and I believe they had 2 different 383 engines in the 59 dodge. the d500 I think is a RB and the non D500 is a B engine and the manifolds are not the same. I was under the impression that the D500 383 block was the same as the 413 and the 440 so I'm not sure what number manifold I should be trying to get. Can someone out there point me in the right direction please, regards bob

Hi. From my investigations that manifold is from a low block or 'B' and could only be used on a RB with spacers under it. I may be wrong but I think I need manifold 1854817. I'm hoping someone can confirm it. ..bob

Some snippets I found on the net:

http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=29053

Here are some castings for the dual 4 - 413

Mopar 1961 413 385 H.P. 1854817 Cast iron 2x4

Mopar 1959 413 385 H.P. 1854817 Cast iron 2x4

My manifold is number is 1854817-1. This is the 1959 manifold. In 1962 the manifold is the same but with a different number. My carbs are also the 1959. The front is 2798s and the rear (with the choke) is 2799s. In documenting the car it was confirmed that engineering used the manifold and carbs from the parts bin as the 62 parts were not yet being produced. They were waiting for the testing of our car to determine the final specifications for the 62 300H.

I would think that either the 1959 or 1962 300 manifolds would work. I saw one on Ebay a year ago for $250.00, but did not have the carbs.

How much are you looking for for that manifold? It looks like The 59 dodge crl 383 D500 has a B block going by the stroke compared to a Chrysler 59 383 golden lion that has the RB block and the longer stroke. I have been on some web sites that say the D500 is a RB and others that say B. Now I am trying to work by the stroke dimensions. I just checked my friends 59 adventurer 383 and it has the same manifold as yours so looks like that's the way to go..bob

I have never heard of a Dodge getting a 383 RB motor. As far as I know, it should be a 383 B motor. But you can check the ID stamp on the pad at the top front of the motor.

I like your style. I do have cross rams on a 59 windsor 383. they are impressive but not correct for a super D500. Also it appears that my dodge is the B block and rams are on a 383 RB . [same as the 413]
The setup I need is on a manifold number 1827899. there may be another later number as I think the B 383 went until late 60;s I'm getting a headache from all this .....

I have the exact manifold you need. It was used on the D500 and the DeSoto Adventure. A 413 manifold will not your 383 engine, The 1959 Winsor Chrysler was an oddball engine produced only one year. Will sell my manifold only for $450

I have a 59 date coded 383 RB 4 bbl manifold in NOS condition. It will fit a 413 and a 440, as well. I'll sell it for $75 plus shipping. Don't get the 383 B and the 383 RB confused. The 383 RB is basically an under-bored 413 and had a production run of a year and a few months. Some people say the water jackets are different. I'm not sure about that. I do know the RB 383 has a really good torque range. Externally, it looks just like a 413.B/RB engines (58-61) with cast iron Torqueflite and torque converter will bolt right up.

I didn't want to start another thread and I didn't want to further mess up my 56-59 Dodge D500 magazine thread with dual four barrel manifold part number discussions so I'm tagging on to this older dual four barrel intake manifold thread.

Recently we had this exchange:

56D500boy - 2017-12-02 6:47 PM

RUSTORICHES - 2017-12-02 5:24 PM

Thanks for posting the FEAR OF THE FLAGS articles I picked something on P29 the photo of the double log intake and part number is 1733878 what surprises me is the# "173" I have always understood or thought the 7 indicated the year as in 57. The one I have is a Chrysler 1634285 dual log four bbl intake.Oh well something old something new…to me.Hang in there Dave like a Parrot on Perch go for cracker and we'll pick up the crumbs

Glen: The 1956 D-500 single four bbl car intake manifold has a PN of 1731 515 so your theory (which is logical) doesn't work. The other thing is PNs and Casting numbers are not necessarily the same. Your 1634 285 doesn't show up at all. The 55 and 56 Chrysler 300 dual 4 bbl manifolds are PN 1731 686. The 57 and 58 non-fuel injection 300 2 x 4 bbl manifold is supposed to be 1733 477.

Glen (RUSTORICHES) the posted (with three photos)

RUSTORICHES - 2017-12-03 10:44 PM

Dave, Seeing them is believing here's a couple of photos of both intakes I have. The Log intake If I remember correcting was reference in a fairly recent Hotrod magazine article and one other which I supposedly filed… ya I can't seem to find it

I will re-iterate that 1634 285 does not show up in the 55-58 Mopar parts catalogue. I see the number in the casting Glen, but it is not in the catalogue (for whatever reason)

Furthermore, neither is 1827 899 from the photo above (if I read that PN correctly).

However, as I suggested previously 1733 477 does show up at the 57-58 Chrysler 300 intake manifold, as shown in the parts catalogue page shown below:

Sorry about that Dave I've deleted my post from your 56-59 D500 Magazine thread and thanks for digging up this posting. Somehow I have misplaced my e-file on the (5) 2X4 manifolds I have.
