| I know the windshields are different in 1957 and 1958, but are the roofs themselves on Plymouths different in those 2 years? Thanks |

Read this:
The 453 (bubble) and 451 (flat) will interchange. They were both used on hardtop and convertible models, depending upon model and year.
The sedan/wagon windshield will fit only sedans and wagons as the glass is shorter top to bottom. Likewise the hardtop/convertible glass will not fit sedans and wagons.
This is for the 1957-59 models. For 1960 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler windshields were the same for all body styles and fit all four car lines, and will not fit 1957-59 models. The bubble 1960 and flat 1961 will fit all 1960-61 Plymouths, 1960-61 Dodges, 1960-61 DeSotos, 1960-64 Chryslers and 1962-64 Dodge 880s.
Windshields were laminated - two pieces of glass with a thin layer of plastic glued between. After a few years the glass and laminate will start to go their separate ways appearing as a foggy section along the edge of the glass. Many cars in the 1930's through 1950's also used laminated glass in their side windows - same problems as time goes by.

The last windshield, W453, is the bubble top unit while the W451 is the flat windshield.
The sedan/wagon windshield glass will only fit 1957-59 sedans and wagons while the other two are interchangeable.

| Thanks, I did not realize W453 and W451 would interchange, so the roof must be the same. I figured it was but best to be sure...

From everything I know, they don't interchange. 451 is 2dr HTs and 4dr HTs, while 453 is for converts. That's according to the parts book. Ron |

They won't?
57 and 58 Plymouth as far as I know kept the same roof, same as the 57 Dodge roof,the 57/58 Convertible will interchange with 58 Dodge , DeSoto and chrysler except Imperial. |

Big M's post stood out: The roof is actually shorter on the cars that use the bubble type windshield. Fitting one into a '57-8 Plymouth coupe would be a challenging feat without replacing the entire roof.

Location: Melbourne, Australia | For the two door hardtop roofs - the windshields and gaskets are interchangeable but some of the stainless trim is not. Noteably the vertical A pillar trim... not sure of uppermost trim but there is a subtle difference. That's how I pick the 57 Christine clones from the 58's..... the three scallops in the A pillar trim ! Colin |

PS - Ron, I think Wikipedia has placed parentheses in their link so that people cannot direct link to their photos! Sneaky.
I tried making the images appear in the browser, and tried making direct links. Each was broken by the parentheses. Nothing worked!
So I put the image URL behind "img=" and that seems to at least let me put the full URL to the image. You'll have to copy/paste that into another browser to see the photos. Thanks for letting me know they didn't work.
