Hello everyone! I am in the process of restoring a 1955 Dodge C1B. After bringing her back from the dead and making a nice driver out of her, the 230 flathead is just not enough for comfortable freeway driving. Just recently I purchased a 56 315 Poly and also have a R10 OD transmission. I will be found over in the engine section asking all sorts of questions about my new engine. Once I start rebuilding, I will decide if I will throw Hemi heads on it or leave it as a Poly.

2015 when she came home to 2016 present... Taken apart to Farm Truck to Hot Rod all in a year.

Welcome! Great color, cool truck!
I'd keep the poly, they're beginning to be appreciated more even by the hardcore hot-rod folks these days.

Nice looking truck. I built a '57 stake bed dually and use it as a work truck. The R10 trans sounds like a good idea. I have a gear vendor for mine with 4.10 gears in back, but have yet to install it.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Originally, this truck has a 4.10 ratio, but along with the R10 transmission, I also got a 3.73 differential from a 54 Plymouth. Swapping that in made it much more freeway friendly.

After getting her on the road and in stock trim, I got an award at a car show for "lifted truck"! After the initial shock that a stock pickup would win that award, I got a bit carried away and had to lower the altitude quite a bit. I sent the front axle out to Nostalgia Sids and had a 3" drop added to it and then installed new front springs with 1 leaf removed. Out back, I installed new springs and Willy's shackles that I flipped over. With the addition of the American Racing wheels and tires, I got 6" of drop and it handles quite a bit better.

Besides front discs and a Corvette dual master cylinder, she is a stocker. I am dropping in the 315 and trying to keep her as period correct as possible.

My most frustrating question from folks is "couldn't decide what color to paint her?" The truck has the original paint job on it. Just rubbed out and shined up. Back in 55, a color matching bed was around $6 extra.

I have a 56 1/2 ton that is in process of restoring. Mine came originally with a V-8, I believe a 270 but engine and trans. had both been changed by the previous owner. You will have to look for a V-8 emblem that was in the front center of the hood for those so equipped.
