Hi,the speaker cone in my 60 Plymouth is destroyed from years of exposure to the sun. I have recently found a replacement speaker grille and now I am looking for a replacement speaker but unfortunately the original is not marked on the back as to how many ohms it is. Does anyone here know? What are you guys using for a replacement?

I found this site for vintage replacement speakers. I plan to get a replacement speaker from them for my 55 Desoto.

It's an 8 ohm speaker.

Very informative site. Your could add a 4 ohm resister in series with a 4 ohm speaker to get the required 8 ohms, or two 4 ohm speakers wired in series will also do it. Do not wire 2 speakers in parallel as this will cut the resistance in half.

Thanks for posting the link to this site, they have a lot of unusual size speakers and are the only ones who had the right size for the dash speaker in my '60 Imperial, and I searched for a long time to find one.

This site also has a lot to offer in the way of speakers... http://electronicplus.com/content/ProductPage.asp?pagenum=2&lname=&...

It's where I purchased my replacement speakers for my DeSotos.

The speaker in my '61 is a 6x9 . I bought a pair but I have been thinking about getting a CD player and mount it under the dash or install it in the glove box . I plan to use both speakers so I will have holes cut in the back panel for the speakers. I will have a car audio install the radio but I will have my dad hook it up for me
