Can anyone give me some tips on removing the crank pulley on my flathead 6? I see there are 2 threaded holes in the face for a puller; Do I have to remove the large centre nut and then use the puller? If so, what size of socket do I need for the centre nut?

I don't have a flat head, so this might be wrong, but yes, undo the nut

Best advice, read about it in the service manual. You do have one, don't you?

Sure do; skips right over removing the crank pulley and gets into crank changing the seal in the timing chain cover, and measuring the stretch in the timing chain itself.
