Here is my 57 firedome. I got it a Carlisle this past summer. I'm adding disc brakes and a set of wire wheels this winter.

Welcome and you have a very nice looking DeSoto - love the wire wheels! And the fact it has single headlights and the smaller rear window make it even more favorable to my taste. Keep us posted with your updates.

Nice car! I remember seeing it at Carlisle last summer. It's unusual to see one without the lower color sweep.

What's the story behind the rectangular plate under the Firedome script?

Nice car! I'm curious about the straight side trim. Was that an option or was that what you got if you ordered a solid color? My 57 Fireflite is all black with straight chrome trim but it comes up further on the front fender and has the fireflite logo.

Great looking car and color. I prefer these without the sweep. Very clean lines!

I had to put the trim on. I do have the other piece for the sweep look but I like it the way it is.

Dad was a DeSoto dealer and a customer ordered a '57 Firedome 4 door sedan without a colorsweep. The car came from the factory the way he ordered it and I believe the sweep was an option. I vaguely remember some DeSoto Firesweep ads that featured a car "low priced" to compete with the Fords, Chevys, and Plymouths without the sweep and with dog dish hub caps.

I go to Rochester often and plan to go the weekend of the 11-12 as my son lives in Irondequoit off of Winton Rd just past 590. I would love to see your car. PM me with directions if that would be ok with you.

Bob, this car's trim is not what you normally got when you ordered a single-color car. It is the trim for a color-sweep car, but with only the top piece installed.
