Elite Veteran Posts: 769 Location: Oley, PA | I was looking at this 1962 300H on eBay. It's a gorgeous car, by the way. I've seen it in person. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-Chrysler-300H-/222319860349?forcerrptr... Reading the description, the seller claims that during the rotisserie restoration of this car, they discovered that '69 Charger floor pans were exactly the same at the '62 Chrysler pans and they were able to purchase repro floor pans. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, it could be a very good thing as I think there is a decent selection of repop pans available such as... http://www.autometaldirect.com/body-components-floor-floor-pans-c-2... Is it possible they will fit my 61 Newport? I copied the key paragraph from the eBay ad here: Edited by Greg P. 2016-12-22 7:10 PM (62 300H.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 62 300H.jpg (79KB - 88 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 Location: Oley, PA | After further review... I don't think this story adds up. See photo below that compares my '61 Newport to a '69 Charger repro floor pan sold by Mill Supply, Inc. http://www.rustrepair.com/PANELS/CHARGER-68-FLOOR-PAN-856871.HTM The Charger floor pan looks significantly different. They certainly aren't "exactly" the same as the seller claims. Makes me wonder what gives here. Its probably "close enough"...
They just take the description from the owner, the car does look good except those incorrect floor pans :/ They also restore their own and flip. Edited by mikes2nd 2016-12-23 4:14 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 1141 Location: Blackpool, United Kingdom. | Article says . That's when he noticed that '69 Charger pans looked an awful lot like '62 300 pans. Come to find out, they were exactly the same, all the way down to their bends and stiffening ribs. So, the restorer ordered a full set of fresh Charger pans and then had them professionally butt welded to reduce overlap and potential for rust. So more than likely they used parts of them that look similar in the ribs etc ? It's impossible to mount a cast iron hog in a '62, but a 60-61 can easily accept a newer transmission.

The main differences are usually in the seating area and depending what kind of seats were ordered. A good sheetmetal welder should be able to fab any floorboard in another car.
