I had save the photo below from another eBay advert and wanted to post a question about it but I didn't because I thought the photo was screwy. Nope, it is not. The actual brochure does indeed show the fuel tank canted/skewed relative to the centerline of the car. Makes no sense to me why the would publish this schematic showing the tank that way. I understand that. You missed the point. The tank is shown to be skewed/yawed relative to the frame, i.e. the left edge of the fuel tank is NOT parallel to the frame rail. Pretty sure that they are parallel having removed and replaced my fuel tank in early October.  | ||

I guess I am not explaining myself properly: 1. I fully 100% understand the need for the fuel tank to be offset to the left because of the spare wheel's "well" location on the right side of the trunk. 2. What I don't follow is why the fuel tank is NOT parallel to the frame rails. Perhaps this new diagram will help beat this dead horse further. Elite Veteran Posts: 1141 Location: Blackpool, United Kingdom. | As well as being offset to the Left it is also angled the same as the angle on the spare wheel, same with exhaust pipe and fuel filler pipe , the spare wheel trough is not in line with the chassis rails, look at the lines of the trunk mat inside car? Until I can get out to my garage and measure a few things, I offer this (not mine -1956 Canadian Dodge) So then that would make the picture of a Plymouth gas tank not USA Dodge of course? Nice picture, thanks, I stole it. Not that it matters to this conversation but wagons have a differnt spare tire well and gas tank location as well. | ||
