Would like to confirm proper removal of gas cap bracket on wagons

Checked the service manual and it shows the gas cap bracket that is secured to the body with 3 screws is connected to the filler tube and not a separate piece. Therefore the bracket has to be removed with the filler tube ??
See photo for part referenced

Just remove the three philips head screws and pull it out. The other tube does not need to be removed (at least on my 62 anyway). There's an o-ring in the opening of the tank that does the sealing of the filler tube to the tank.
