I need a "new" heater switch for my '59 Coronet, mine's missing from the car. I think part number 1885908 is correct...?

I've been looking at late '60s switch #3895033/3502126 it appears very similar except for pin configuration in back. Since I'm rewiring anyway Pin Config isn't that important if I wire up the same pins.

Maybe this is a dumb question but will the later model part work the same in size and function as the older part?

SO

Am I the only one that thinks they are similar enough to possibly interchange going strictly by appearance alone?

vs

There's no way in heck that they could interchange because they have totally different part numbers...?

Anyone have experience with this interchange. The later models are 1/2+ the price of the '59 piece.

Hi
I hate to be a party pooper here but your '59 heater pushbuttons won't fit the later switch for one thing.... check out the attachment points and compare them to your buttons, the '59 buttons are a trapezoid type of connection whereas the later ones are kind of a ball and socket sort of a deal....I would also question the vacuum connections, if the correct damper will operate for the mode selected which is also something to consider... btw I also own a '59 Dodge.

I didn't figure it would work but I was looking for a cheaper alternative. After further research I do believe mine will use the #1842490 with less wiring connectors on the back.

I tested my blower motor and it works great. I am trying to get it so I can direct the airflow etc for winter driving.

Oh well. Back to the old drawing board....

Thanx everyone for the input.
