Extreme Veteran Posts: 444 Location: North of the 49th | Hi Remember that the shift cable changed on these cast iron Torque flites in 1960 to the style used up to 1965 with the adjustment "wheel" . With regard to the Buttons you will need to obtain a Torque flite button box as I think the only position that is close on the Powerflite box is "Drive" ' cause we tried that once when we were just starting out with this FL stuff that's how I know ...I'm pretty sure that the R,N, D buttons from the Powerflite set position correctly on a pre '60 Torqueflite button box or at least they do on '57-'58-'59 except for '59 Plymouth which has a unique button position setup. I know of no one that sells rebuilt Torque flites you'd have to obtain a "core" and get it rebuilt. What car are you doing this on??

Extreme Veteran Posts: 363 | I've got a '61 Torqueflite in my 300D the only difference I recall was the lenth of the shift cable, I think it's a lttle shorter on the '60-61.....and of course the cable has the wheel adjustment on the trans end. Owen

Expert Posts: 3768 Location: NorCal | I'm confused, you say it's a 300D which came only with a Torqueflite but you want to use your Powerflite buttons?

Expert Posts: 1730 Location: Michigan | Hey Ron, I did this with my 55. I create a 5 button box so I could properly work the 57 Torgueflight I put in it. Only the really knowledgeable guys can tell there is something different about my car. Look at my signature below. Is this what your trying to accomplish?

Expert Posts: 3768 Location: NorCal | Ron - 2016-12-15 11:36 PM MY QUESTION IS WHAT YEARS CAN I USE? RON It really depends on whether you want to use an original iron replacement or want to adapt a later 727 using the adapter mentioned. If you want original, Chuck's link lists them.
