| I am trying to get my '60 Imperial to run. Supposedly the motor was running back in April before I bought it. I am getting no spark at the coil and no spark at the plugs. Rotor, distributor cap, coil are new, plugs are gapped correctly and look ok, all put 1 plug wire new (am getting a whole complete new set). Ballast resistor is new, getting power there and appears am getting power to the coil also. Ideas? I am stumped on this one. Thanks! |

Location: Kansas City, KS | I just got stranded in my '68 yesterday with no spark. It turned out to be the condenser for the points. This was the very first time I had one go bad on me. I went through the same laundry list of new parts as you before figuring it out. |

Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Are points and condenser new? Both should be changed if not but first, make sure your points are opening, maybe they losened and are not opening or, they might have fused, if the car sat with the ign. on. IF they are new and they are opening, then make sure they are clean. Sometimes they will have grease on the contacts. Make sure the lead wire into the dist. isn't shorted or broken. Common on old hard dried wires.
But change the condenser & ponits if they are not new and check for moisture inside the cap. |

| Thanks for the replies. I am waiting for the new condenser and points I ordered, I did switch out the condenser with one out of a car that hasn't run in decades, no change but that one could easily be bad too. When I flick open the points with a screwdriver I'm getting spark. |
