I'd like to replace the complete spark plug wire kit for this car and wonder if any of you can recommend a good supplier.

the old wires are different from todays wires. I see the old style OE wires on ebay. If you have any modern electronics in the car the old wires may cause some noise.

Atlas Obsolete makes, or made, OEM style wires. I use generic 8MM Accel wires on my 331.

Can interfere with electronics & possible buzz on radios. Reportedly not compatable with Pertronix II ignition (OK with regular Pertronics).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mopar-426-331-354-392-Hemi-Spark-Plug-Wires... Those will work, but generic strait boot 8MM Accel wires are a bunch cheaper & work well.

Is the spark plug tunnel suppose to have a rubber cap on it after the wire is installed ?

The early Hemis had no rubber seal at the top of the tube like the later 426 Hemi does.

I just experienced that problem with my tried and true HEI modules too. With over 12 different vehicles that I have used them on, I have never had one fail. I had a no-spark issue on my '70 Satellite, but it turned out to be a low voltage condition because of a bad bulkhead connector. But I recently installed a copper core coil wire on my '58 Dodge that ended up sparking across to the metal distributor advance tube, through the insulation of the wire. It was about 1/2" away from the tube, but that didn't stop it from arcing there. What's worse is that in doing so, it fried my ignition module. Bogus. Needless to say, I yanked that coil wire out of there and replaced it with a standard version. So I don't recommend them for any electronic ignition systems.

Success !!!! I benched the distributor today so I could accurately set the dual points to 17. They were set at about 28 :-( .. My new wire set came from Atlas so I had time to install them on the passenger side only but BAM....the engine came alive and started running on all 8 for once. Plug #4, 6, and 8 were very oily and not firing. I guess the old plug wire set was not delivering the juice to the plugs. A big cloud of smoke blew out of the pass side and then the engine smoothed out and the smoking stopped. WooHoo !
