Black car is a bust also. Your only hope is ebay, sometimes you can find old stock and classic 2 current repops floors and some stuff( but it ain't pretty).

Black car is a bust also.

I don't think so ...
Anyway, they do list on the page I've linked, every patch Paul is searching.

Have you called them lately? They just tell me "we don't make those anymore"...

Maybe they fired up the presses?

I agree with Mike. They list a couple for the '57 Chrysler too, but they won't sell you anything, because they don't actually have it.

That's too bad ...
They were the one who helped me with body panels for my '58 Plymouth, but, granted, that was 15 years ago.
Good luck with your search, Paul.

I asked Blackcar, they have a couple lower front fender patches, one center left quarter patch and one dogleg for 57 58 Plymouths and that's it.

Sounds like it's time to get the welder out, buy some sheet metal and make your own. Once you get started it's not that difficult just a bit time consuming. Jerry

Who ever restored the car last did not do it right. Do not feel bad my '61 was not done right the last couple of times. I do not know who repainted the car the last couple of times. My dad is fabricating metal to make panels for the rusted spots need to be cut out and replaced.

There is another source called Showcars in eastern Canada but I hesitate to name them. I ordered a Rt. side dogleg patch panel for my 58 Plymouth late last year, and they assured me they had several. I waited and waited after sending the money and finally got it over 4 months later. They kept making excuses when I would contact them, my feeling is they are very disorganized. The problem is, the patch panel is wrong for my car, it is either for a Dodge or Chrysler/Desoto, not sure, it is old stock, aftermarket I believe. When I get more time I will post a pic. here and try sell it to get some of my investment back.
Long story, short contact Showcars but beware.

If it is for a Dodge or Chrysler, I would buy it from you.

Be careful of these 60s patch panels , many of the ones like the headlamp panels are a thinner guage than the original and were made to fit over the original panel and tacked on . They are pretty useless unless you want to do a second rate job. It seems many of the lower quarter panel or fender sections were standard guage , so just be careful and maybe ask , as I bought some and got rid of them as they were too thin to work with .

If you can wire feed weld, you can do it !! Buy some 18 ga. sheet metal, find a local fab shop to bend the pieces to the shape you want. Get some pieces of flat copper or brass to use as a heat sink and an assortment of C clamps. I did all the lower rockers, floor and trunk floor this way on the 59 Dodge I'm working on. PM me if I can be of any further help. Jerry

I have a copper welding spoon that I use for placing behind the welds, but I would be interested to see what copper setup you use Jerry. The hard part is when you can't get behind the panel you are welding on.

I got a piece of copper about 1/8 thick and about 3" x 12". I got it at a company that sells metal of all shapes and sizes. When I was working, we did a lot of business with them. So I knew the guy and he gave me that piece as it was in scrap barrel. I cut pieces off of it to accomadate what I needed. Since it was easy to bend I could shape it to match whatever I was welding. What I did in areas where it was impossible to get a heat sink behind the weld, especially if it was a butt type weld. I would open up the butt ends and make a gap of about +1/8 - 1/4". I would cut a strip of 18 ga sheet metal about 1" wide and the length necessary to overlap at the end of the gap. Then lay it in behind and tack it in place. Then put the repair patch, or whatever your doing, in place. Now you have something to weld to. I found using quick tack welds will help prevent burn thru. Also had to keep tacking as far apart as possible and let the metal cool to prevent warpage. Sometimes I had to get real creative using sticks, metal rods, 2x2's, & 2x4's, what ever it took to hold the patch in place until the welds held. Carefully grind down the weld and put some body filler over it. Once it gets painted no one will know. This may sound kinda crude, but it worked for me. Jerry

I have used the heat sink method and fount it helped, but not enough to bother with

I just do many small (tack) welds, but I do about an inch at a go, then move somewhere else

Main thing is to make sure you can still put your hand on the panel, once you cant, its getting hot enough at the welding area to badly warp

I don't think warpage/shrinkage is avoidable, but taking it slow minimises it and dont make "lap" joints on exterior panels, you double the thickness
of the metal at the weld and it will pull the panel out of shape and is really hard to fix (how do I know?)

I have tried "hammer welding" seemed ok, only problem is when working on a 1/4 panel, my arms arnt long enough to hammer and dolly

Making patches can be done I know I've made them but I was trying to find new old stock patch panels just to take the pressure off as I'm also working on other people's cars as well . Would have been nice to chop and change

I just bought 2 full sets of lower quarter (front and rear) patch panels from Sweden. Shipping isn't cheap of course. This is for Chrysler/DeSoto/Dodge. I know Plymouth is a little different. I will post a photo of them as soon as I receive them and let people know how well they fit.
