My new to me 56 Dodge Custom Royal with the D-500 315 cu in 4 bbl hemi came with what I think is the 57 paper filter sidewinder (I made that up) aircleaner. I don't like it and will run a Speed shop chrome aircleaner if I can't find the proper red oil bath aircleaner. It need to have the deep indent on the left side to clear the PS pump which is driven off the generator.

What I am looking for (the red one). The black one is what I have (shown on a 57)

Okay. Same general topic but new twist. I was at my local Mopar NOS parts guy's (Ron W's) place this AM. I took a "early 50's" Chrysler oil bath air cleaner that Martin K. from Tempe sold me. I thought that it didn't fit on my engine because it bumped into the PS pump fill "tower" (and cap). Ron has the same basic air cleaner on his 55 Dodge Custom Royal 270 cu in Hemi with the 4 bbl (and manifold) from the 54 Dodge pace car. No issues with the PS pump - but it is a different design.

Bottom line is Ron and I decided that I might need to tilt the generator and PS pump out further - but my belts are too short. And/or "clock" the PS pump so it is more like the one below and less straight up and down.

This is what I am trying to achieve:

Comments? Can I turn the PS a bit? What would be the proper (longer) length of the twin belts?

Now that it looks like I will be able to achieve the proper D-500 air cleaner look, what are the hints for gutting the Chrysler oil bath AC to install a big paper filter?
