New User Posts: 3 Location: Soap Lake, WA | Car was repainted and trying to find pics of how it was painted originally. Door jambs are white but inside deck lid and trunk are a blue. Paint code shows CXC which sounds like Blue/White/Blue. Trim code is 101. Interested in finding pics of what that is supposed to look like also.

Attached is a photo of a Savoy sedan done in the same scheme, but with red instead of blue. New User Posts: 3 Location: Soap Lake, WA | What I can't figure out is how my cars deck lid and trunk is blue inside but has white under the hood and inside the door jambs. By looking at the pic of the red car the door jambs, inside trunk and under hood would all be the same color. I seems that my car the roof color (blue) ran down the back across the deck lid, down to the bumper. The sides of the car and hood were white and the space between the trim on the side was blue. I can't seem to find pics of cars with that paint style.

(I think they used whatever was left and seldom matched from car to car) I've had several of these cars which ranged from a blue-ish hue in the paint to green to straight gray. It's just how they were and not in any way indicative of the outer paint..

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Chrysler never offered a two tone with the trunk lid a different colour. I have seen two-tones where the trunklid and the area between the fenders is one colour, but not the lid on its own. You stated earlier that the car was repainted. I would take it from that fact that the blue trunk is not original. It was either painted blue at the time the car was repainted, or as a result of an accident. The trunk lid may have been damaged beyond repair in an accident and someone found a trunk lid painted Stardust Blue Poly. to replace it. You never know what may have happened to the car since it rolled off the assembly line sometime during the 1958 model year.

New User Posts: 3 Location: Soap Lake, WA | Inside the whole trunk is blue. I meant could the whole area between the fins be blue carried down from the roof? if so I would like to find a pic of that. I have searched the internet with no luck. You can see that the area in the side molding and on the roof has some blue. I suppose it's time to take a little sandpaper to the back section to see. Expert Posts: 3966 Location: DFW, TX | I think they're trying to say that during production, the factory would first paint the trunk area with leftover paint to protect the bare steel. This paint was not intended to be seen, so the color it ended up was a mix of factory colors. It was often anywhere from a blueish color, to a gray, to even a brown. After painting these hidden areas, then they would paint the rest of the car the colors it had been ordered in. It sounds like in your car's case, the color that was sprayed in the trunk the day it was made just happens to be visually similar to Code C Stardust Blue poly (poly = metallic, btw). Car looks nice and rust free. Enjoy it!
