| New member here, long time owner of a 1960 Saratoga 4dr Sedan. I put this car in storage about 20 years ago, got her out two days ago and with very little work she started back up. my problem is that when I stored it I was half way into a generator to alternator conversion, Its been so long that I don't remember how it was wired, I bought a wiring diagram and I've now identified all the wires but I have one question that hopefully somebody can help me with. The alternator is mounted (mopar squareback) I checked it and it's putting out right at 39 amps so I think I'll be safe, I have an early 60's mopar regulator and I have a wiring diagram and I have identified all the wires but I'm want to know the best way to run the wiring. Since I've seen a few different ways on the interwebs.
The one thing I'm not so sure about is the black wire that runs from the light switch that was connected to the original generator regulator. What should I do with that? I know that I ground one field from the alternator and run the other one to the voltage regulator. Also What is the best way to connect the main output of the alternator, I've seen all sorts of different places to run it, straight to the battery, through the starter relay?
If somebody would be so kind to do a sketch It would be a huge help.
Thanks,
Rich

Welcome to the board.
The diagram below shows how to wire the charging system; if you want the ammeter to work, the alternator output has to flow through it. To do that you can just use the wire that was on the old regulator's BAT terminal and hook it to the alternator's threaded output lug.
