Well it seems that my car has sprung a decent sized leak.
Can anyone advise me which transmission kit is the correct one for my car?
Ian/Wiz - got any suggestions on the kit and where to get it?

Thanks in advance!

Find the source of the leak before planning on which kit. Might only need a single seal/gasket.

WHen the car is parked for a longer period, all the transmission fluid will drain back into the pan. My guess is that the shift cable is leaking in the O-ring seal as well as trough the cable housing. Try first of all to clean up and look for leaks around these areas - the throttle lever seal could also be leaking.
All this can be fixed with the transmission in the car.

Transmission fluid has a great capillary function, which makes three drops look like a pint

Well if three drops look like a pint, then I lost all of it!!! All joking aside, Is there an all encompassing kit I can buy so that when I take it to my tranny guy, he can proceed with the work? Would this be the full rebuild kit?

The shift cable must be fixed with two layers of shrink tubing with glue inside. There is a thread about this here http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=57684&... cable shrink&highlightmode=1#M478991

I think that the shift cable and it's o-ring is the most likely sources for your leaks. Then of course it might be the pan gasket and filler tube as well.

I would get a fresh can of spray brake cleaner and douche the entire transmission and blow dry; it's hard to pinpoint the leak when the whole area is moist with fluid.

Yep, clean and dry first, then lay out paper on the floor and wait for the drip, then look up.

Not sure if anyone said it yet, but dusting it can help as well (throw lots of baby powder at it) the powder
will slow the oils spread and make it easier to see

Wow......ok, update. It is power steering fluid. Dripping down from the steering box onto the steering arm, then down and, thanks to the capillary effect, I'd soaked the cardboard under my tranny. The question is, how can my pump be so full? I definitely have a leak on the top at the shaft cover. But I am really afraid to even think about taking this out myself.
