Hi everyone,

First of all, I must say that I never saw nor hear the power steering work before, as the car was totally disassembled.

But :

- I had my power steering pump rebuilt, using a standard kit (mostly gaskets) found on eBay.
- I installed a NORS high pressure hose, with the correct reduced passage at the middle.
- The steering box is a rebuilt unit.
- The belt tension has been checked.

When I turn, I have vibrations in the steering wheel

At first I thought it was the belt tension, but that's not the case.
I'm thinking now that the pump has another default somewhere (a valve maybe ?).

What do you think ?

Are you turning it while stopped or driving? You should try driving if possible. Not sure what you mean by vibration, I believe there is a relief valve in the pump that might cause this.

Vincent, it might be air in the system, try first to turn the steering wheel slowly first to max right and then to the max left - do this a couple of times and see if it helps. It might also be too tight adjusted gear shaft or the pump.

I am thinking air in the system, a cavitating hydraulic pump makes a horrible groaning noise and the implement (steering) will be slow and you will feel vibration in the control (steering wheel)

Jack the car up to get the wheels off the ground and slowly turn the wheels from lock to lock and back again, then re check/add oil, continue until it stops complaining and the oil is at correct levels

It is while driving.
Vibration is felt in the steering wheel as well as a grinding noise.
Indeed, a mechanic told me it could be the relief valve ...

I'll look into this, and follow your advices, thank you.
