Subject: compatible engines for early "A488" torque flight

anybody know which engines I can rebuild to bolt up to my fresh rebuilt A488 trans? long story but my motor rebuild RB 383 took a crap and need a new motor .

not B 383 need 1960 1 year only RB383

Any pre-'62 big block would be a bolt-in for your existing setup. If your crankshaft is good you could swap it into a 413, 426 or 440.

Not many folks will actually look at the stamped code to see what you have and few will be able to look at installed engine and see that it is a 413 or 440 block.
If you are in the mood for subterfuge then machine the pad and re-stamp it.......
