The work on the 1957 Fireflite Spectator has been at a stand still for way to long but this summer it will be painted.
It's a rare 9 passenger, factory A/C wagon. It's the car that came from a Kansas restoration shop a few years ago.

We took the body off the frame and since the frame was bent and damaged from an accident and needed too much work we replaced it with an Arizona frame in perfect condition before blasting and powder coating it black.
I did not know that the wagon and sedan frames were slightly different. But we had to use the rear part of the wagon frame to make the sedan frame correct for this project!

The car is going through a bolt and nut restoration with all chrome show chrome plated, all stainless polished, everything mechanical redone and the interior will be spectacular.

I'm exited about the color choice, I'm not going to disclose now it but I'll post pictures after the car is painted.

We are looking for a roof rack for the car in case anyone out there has one for sale or know of one that can be bought.

I thought Dodge was a "spectator" and Desoto was "explorer". Not that it particularly matters. Either way, the restoration looks great! Keep us updated with progress photos!

Based on what I could find, the naming depends on the number of seats and the brand.

57 Dodge was 3 seater wagon was a Spectator

Desoto was Explorer and Shopper. 3 seats = Explorer, 2 seats = Shopper.

Or so they say:
