Extreme Veteran Posts: 335 Location: California/Wisconsin | The restoration of our 1960 convertible is about done now and the car is home for final touches and getting some bugs out. The car was found by a friend at a nearby dealership in Minnesota. It had been located by the dealer in Iowa torn apart for a custom restoration. Some bodywork was done and the car was painted a copper/orange color and engine was reportedly rebuilt. It was missing much trim, seats, bumpers, etc. I had it stripped and rotisserie restoration was started. It turned out to be quite solid and Chrysler Historical report shows a Chicago dealer sold it new. We found the petal pink color when the windshield was removed for replacement. The engine and drive-train was gone through. Many thanks go out to Gary Goers and Doug at SMS for materials provided. The top color is an option for Petal Pink, Terra Cotta, and Alaskan White painted Chryslers in 1960 if interior combination was white or terra cotta. I included a picture from the dealer book showing the top color options. Air, power windows and seat, flitesweep decklid, and 7 button radio were added. Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | miquelonbrad - 2016-05-15 4:14 PM WOW!!! Looks great!! So...what happens if you DON'T unzip the rear window before lowering the top? The window usually gets scratched if you leave it up. You can probably still put the top down with it zipped up as most people aren't going to crawl in the back seat to unzip it. Plus it can be a pain to zip it back up. On my '64 Dodge convertible I had the rear window replaced and put a towel over the back seat/boot when lowering the top to keep it from getting scratched. Plus if you use Mequiars plastic cleaner and polish kit you can keep the plastic window looking good for a long time. It sure is a beautiful car, I really like the Terra Cotta top on it. I just sold my pink '71 Charger R/T to get my 300F. Can you tell us what parts you got from Gary for the car? I'm getting ready to place an order. Nick.

I have pictures of this on my computer found on an Ebay auction from several years back, still in the copper color. Interesting to note that the Windsor convertibles used the same door panels that came on the Saratoga, instead of the typical Windsor door panels. Edited by imopar380 2016-05-16 12:03 AM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 335 Location: California/Wisconsin | Gary Goers did the well, boot, trunk panels and carpet, and endless rubber pieces like weather-striping and bumpers. His catalog lists what is available, difficult as it is to sort out. He also had some NOS lenses but told me they were the last ones he had. Someone questioned the visor cut out but they are the original ones that cleaned up and were restitched. The cut is for access to the convertible latch and correct. Cars that were undercoated would have black appearing inner fenders. Edited by PolaraPaul 2016-05-16 9:02 AM

Details, details, details - maybe I'm too picky but that's just me. The car is very, very, nicely done and extremely striking. Edited by Viper Guy 2016-05-17 8:53 AM

Expert Posts: 1886 | I will happily take this crooked horn cap car if he wants to unload it haha. Maybe you're being too picky? Yeah, I'd say so. If it was that big of a concern to you, you could send the owner a message. If he was posting for critiques, I'd get it. Otherwise, just comes off as being picky for the sake of being picky. It's an awesome car.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 335 Location: California/Wisconsin | Thanks Mike. I have two other convertibles under restoration now. One is a real 1958 Dodge Custom Royal Super D-500 and the other a 1960 Plymouth Fury. I like to share the end results with this forum but I think most of us would prefer suggestions for correction as a personal message, like you mentioned. Didn't mean any offense, was just an observation. The thought of a PM never crossed my mind but will be well remembered now. Sorry, and best of success with your new projects. We look forward to your progress.
