Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | I think I might be missing some brackets on my 1960 300F generator. It just has the mount on the exhaust manifold and the adjusting bar. Looking at the pictures in the discussion in the link below, it looks like there are two brackets underneath that give added support from underneath. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=55924&... Anyone have clear pictures of the brackets so that I can look for them? Thanks, Nick.

As you see, the angled bracket is really reinforcing the generator bracket and the straight one looks like it wasn't enough with the angled one I think that there's a risk of tearing of the casted ear on the exhaust manifold without those support brackets. Thanks! Those are very helpful. I'm missing both of those brackets on my car. Hopefully I have them from the car I parted out. The drivetrain was out of the car when I got it and there were a lot of parts that I didn't know what they were for but I didn't throw anything out. Best $500 I ever spent. I certainly don't want to bust my exhaust manifold. Edited by NicksGarage 2016-04-26 5:27 PM

Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | I'll look at the generator label. It's from my old 300F. The one on my current one isn't the original according to the seller. Looks like I need to find a spacer for the one bracket where it bolts to the lower timing cover. When I looked at it yesterday it didn't look like the brackets were long enough to make it to the generator if I mount them where yours are mounted but it seems like my old car had a bolt hole in the end of the exhaust manifold. I have to go down to my storage space to look at it again.

Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | Here's the latest update. I figured out why my brackets are too short, my other car had a different bracket on the exhaust manifold. My current car has a simple steel bracket where the earlier one had a cast iron bracket with a separate hole for the braces. Learning something every time I work on this thing. Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | Finally got generator braces mounted to my car. The ones from my old 300F didn't fit because they were too short and the old car had a cast iron generator bracket on the exhaust manifold and the new car has a steel bracket. I was going to change it over but it turns out it puts the generator further back and the belt wouldn't line up. I think the difference is that the old car was an A/C car and this one isn't. I ended up buying a set of braces from a 1959 New Yorker 413 once I confirmed with the seller that the length was right. The long brace is different from what Wizard posted and I had to drill out the bottom hole of it as the timing cover bolt was too big to go through it. I'd assume a 1959 413 block has smaller bolts on the timing cover. Here are some pictures. Expert Posts: 1223 Location: Ramona, CA | And here are the specs for the spacer that goes on the lower timing cover bolt. I was lucky to find this from my old car in a coffee can of bolts and hardware that the previous owner had saved.
