Veteran Posts: 260 | Still trying to find a home for my 1959 Desoto Firedome with a 383 BB and automatic transmission. The car is located in Bement, IL. This car runs and drives, is currently licensed and insured. I just do not have time to drive it. It does have a transmission fluid leak on occasion and the heater is not hooked up as it leaks coolant onto the floorboards, and there is a crack in the windshield. It does have tons of new parts (leaf springs, Edelbrock manifold, Edelbrock carburetor, gas tank, front disc brake conversion, shocks, center link, and idler arm) and has had the steering gear box rebuilt. No, it isn't perfect and yes, there is body filler in it over the wavy sheet metal patches I made. Make me an offer but cash only please! Elite Veteran Posts: 1155 Location: somerville mass | you did all this work yourself? wow!!! body off frame! app. you found another desoto frame.... all that metal work! windshield and a heater core fitting are minor with all the work you did! a lot of scraped knuckles! the heater core fitting can be welded/brazed... the windshield can be repaired dep. on the size of the crack. with all the work you did why are you selling? you must have a lot more than 2750 into it. do you have any other fwd look cars? steve.

Veteran Posts: 260 | Sorry I haven't been on for a while, busy spring so far! Yes I did all the work, scraped a lot of knuckles, took it off the frame and put it on a different one and lived to tell the tale. I am selling it because I have several other cars that I'm working on and just don't have the time to drive them all. This is my only FL car, and it isn't necessary that I sell it. It seems best for these cars to be driven more often than not, and I can't do that. Yes, the car is still for sale. Edited by Lisa P 2016-05-30 12:01 AM

Expert Posts: 2002 Location: Branson, MO | Good for you and the buyer. I am surprised it took so long to sell at a very reasonable price for a well cared for automobile. Congratulations and hope the new owner becomes familiar with this forum and keeps us posted.
