Whoa! They said March would be in like a lamb and out like a lion - and they weren't kiddin!
They cancelled school for the kids early and my work even closed for the day, which is unheard of in recent memory.
I managed to get to work, but when the storm was at its peak, it was a white out!

I think that is the De Soto out on the front lawn.

That's a lot of snow! That DeSoto roof line looks like one of those shorties!

Considering Kansas City is somewhat close to the same latitude (not counting elevation of course) as Denver, we've had a very mild winter this year.
It was 76°F today. Sorry about your snowstorm but thanks for giving one of the few times to brag about KC weather!

Hi, Don:

I was hankering for some Arthur Bryant's today, I can tell you. We had temperatures in the 70's yesterday - so maybe this one is heading your way?
Along with all my goofy hood ornament shenanigans, I made the Firedome a shorty.

I've been snowed on in July around the South Park and over St. Elmo way.
Go out in shorts and a T-shirt and freeze your ass off as a snow storm takes
over a nice, sunny day !

They say a bigger, badder one is on it's way. The last I saw, Grand Lake was going to be the epicenter. Four feet + ?

I really feel for you guys. It is another beautiful spring here, all the snow is already melted, hitting 50 F. in the afternoon.

When it's Springtime in the Rockies
And It's ninety-nine below,
The natives all go barefoot
Just because we like the snow.
Our girls all wear bikinis,
The boys shave all their hair.
When it's Springtime in the Rockies
And snow is everywhere!
This past Thursday, it was 73 here in the Springs. yesterday (Saturday) the high was 34, and next Thursday it will be 70+ again.
Today, the Californians are out in their shorts and flip-flops and are complaining about the cold. LOL!

We had nearly a foot of what can be termed "heart attack snow" or stuff so wet and heavy that old fudds like me get heart attacks clearing it off the driveway and walk. Winters here really aren't bad, but they do tend to linger. I just love going to the store and hearing the ex-Californians in their shorts and flip-flops complain about that cold, white precip. It's not yet May, but if more comes, it would hardly be the first time it snowed on Mothers' Day.

Good one, Don! Yeah, we have had snow here this weekend. It doesn't really stick at this point, but I'm sure it does pile up in the mountains.
It kind of puts a damper on Sunday morning cruises in the De Soto, but what can you do? Actually, the De Soto is not getting any spark, so I would like to go out and work on it, but I don't even like to do that in this weather.

No spark at the plugs. I cleaned up the points and re-gapped 'em - but I think the problem may be even ahead of the distributor. I will have my coil tested this week.

Geez, Mike... See, we can't even have a civilized thread like this one without you derailing it to talk about silly cars.
The only time I've been stranded in any of my Imperials was from a loose connection on the ballast resistor. I gapped the points, replaced the coil and was testing the ignition switch to replace when I finally found that loose wire by accident.

Maybe your car is too cold to create electricity in that artic Denver?
Have you tried warming the battery?

Yes, weather and women and you are in the clear.
Any other topics quickly turn into a s**t show.

Weather and women... well, the weather is usually safe with most people.
I hope you're being responsible and thinking about the wildlife out there in your cold climate.

Lads --
Actually, winters out here aren't that severe, they just seem to linger. We store our Christmas decorations in our garage so when we put them up in November-December and take them down in January I have to take the Big-Tailed Beast and the Vette out. I don't like to just get them out of the garage, but rather drive 'em around a bit to get the oil and grease hot before I put them back in. So there are definite breaks in the cold even in January and there never is any continuous snow cover on the ground, much less the streets. Here in Colorado Springs at some 6000 feet elevation, normally our snow season is March, April, and even May, which is when we get our heavy, wet snows. In fact, just off the top of my head, I can remember a half-dozen Mothers' Days when we got 6, 8, and even 10". But it hits us hard then quickly melts off and the quick melt sometimes presents a road hazard because the snow melts rapidly in the sun, but as soon as it starts getting dark it starts to freeze, presenting a problem. But back in the old days when I had my first Big-tailed Beast, I never had any problems going to college even with its ram-inducted 383 and 4.10 gears -- except once. Again, we had a light dusting of a spring snow which was not enough to stick anywhere except on the grass (or so I thought). I had a 8:00 AM class, so as usual I got up at 7:00, did a quick shave, and jumped into my car to go to class. The snow may not have stuck to the ground and streets, but it did to the bridges where it turned to ice. I got on I-25 via an on-ramp that curved up-hill onto an overpass. Just as I hit the overpass, the Beast shifted from second to drive and the next thing I knew I was going south on I-25 facing north! I'll never forget the eyes of a guy passing me going south and facing south. Anyway, I got her stopped wihout incident, calmly made a 180, and got off at the next exit on my happy way. Just about that time, as I was thinking how calmly I handled the situation, I got the shakes so bad I had to pull over and stop for a bit. The valor of ignorance!

That's gross, Mike. Don't your neighbors complain about you mowing while dressed like that??

I'll take the hot summer weather anytime over the cold winter. Besides, I'm not old enough to be grumpy all year round.

Ha! Thanks, Don! 'Twas jist a dusting. No biggie here in Denver proper.

Next precipitation is coming Monday - I suppose that goes your way on Tuesday.

I was glad to see you post on this thread.

The Nether has got a little uptight lately. I liked my poll, but it went the way of the dodo all the same.

Glad you're surviving. KC is scheduled for a big rainstorm on Tues. Ironically, it'll also be the warmest day of the 10 day fearcast.

Yeah, the Nether.... I've been kinda afraid to post anything down there for a while.

I went out last Sunday and cruised the De Soto south on the Valley, west on C-470, east on I-70, and back on 6th.
Yesterday and today, rain and snow mixed.

Winter's a-coming!
