Expert Posts: 1493 Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Yep. Technically any MoPar from 1959-61. I hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong. I had a couple swivel seat cars. Nice and goofy, but I never used them except to show off. | ||

As Jon writes, they're more show off than practical, but they're more comfortable as seats in comparison to the bench seats. As for show-off factor, the reaction is totally surprised spectators that really cannot grasp that these seats existed even back in '59. | ||

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13042 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | I think that it's very difficult to mount the automatic swivel seats in a '59 and '61 Jocke. The A-pillar is different for to accept the torsion springs that balance the doors to the extra spring force. Then the parts are rare and difficult to find and the construction had flaws and needs to be improved. Edited by wizard 2015-10-04 8:54 AM | ||

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7205 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | My Saratoga was biult with the automatic swivel seats - not working, cables broken. I removed the door jamb torsion bars and brackets, and seat return springs and sold them to a guy who wanted to restore the automatic action on his 1960 Dodge Phoenix. I asked him to keep me informed but so far I haven't heard anything fro him. I generally use my swivel seats manually to get in and out - I do find it easier to get in and out ! Before I removed the seat return springs under the back side of the seats, I was unable to easily use the seats for entry and exit as the seats always wanted to pull themselves back in. Expert Posts: 1493 Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | I actually made fake ones with bucket seats from a 66 Charger, recently. They look almost exactly the same, although they don't swivel. Jeff Nichols has one of my 59 DeSotos with the correct seats. The manual ones always worked fine, but especially when I was young and spry, I didn't bother to use the feature much. I guess as we get older, those cars , especially the coupes, get a little harder to get into. My DeSoto's seat is only 18 inches or so from the ground. After all these years, I still hit my head on the roof sometimes, and I'm not a tall person. | ||
