| Might be a silly question, but the 361 that came with my car (1960 Matador) had factory a/c; the 413 I'm putting in (1964 New Yorker) didn't, and I'm wondering if the bracket will bolt on to the new engine?
Basically, I don't want to use an under-dash a/c unit, but I'd like to use a modern compressor & update everything. I could use any advice you may have on this. If I can find something that would fit where the stock components go, I'd be happy to update & then sell the original unit/components, but I'm really not sure where to start? |

Location: Alaska | The big block (361) and the raised big block (413) use the same basic head and water pump housing so it should just bolt on. If it bolts just to the head or intake manifold, you may need longer belts. |

The difference in block height between the low-block 361 and the raised-block 413 makes most of the brackets different depending on the year. Example, the cast iron main compressor bracket bolts to the intake manifold bolts and they're an inch apart different between the two motors...ditto for some of the compressor support brackets.

Location: Arizona | I have what I believe is a full set of brackets for the factory v-compressor setup. I think it's for the rb engine but not sure. If you are interested I can dig it out and see what the measurements are. I thought I might use it when I added AC to my 60 361b but it wasn't any use for the sanden compressor setup. The main bracket looks like in the photo 57chizler posted. |
