Australia is a big place

Where are you?

I have a spare, but I dont want to part with it, but there is a guy thats advertising various parts on gumtree (Perth) in a suburb called Shelly that might have one

Yep, as Mick said, VERY rare trans to find down here.

I don't have one to spare, nor know of any available but if you have one to rebuild, give " Transwreck" a call in Frankston Victoria.

Ph 03 97696647 or 0428 465 483 as they have old transmission rebuild experience and could maybe do yours or might be able to put you in touch with someone down here that might have one?

thanks Mick for making that enquiry for me, i am in Sydney NSW, Thanks Van Helsing also, i will give them a call and see how i go.My radiator had rusted out internally and filled the tranny with water. Thankfully the engine flushed out pretty well without problems but the transmission needs some major parts replaced.
this was how i got the car a couple of years ago and it has been sitting in my shed since. so hoping to get something i can put in to get driving and get my enthusiasm back for this car.

You might want to consider trying to get one from the US

Most shippers will charge around $400 port to port

USA to AUS ships to the east coast from south eastern USA, I have a shipper that ships from Longbeach in California to Fremantle, but the shipping across country here is pretty expencive

That said, I have seen these transmissions going for a lot of money (why I wont sell my spare), so it might turn out cheaper to get one from the States

Jim Robinson in Clunes (Vic) might have one, but other than that, I am out of ideas

Oh, George Laurie in QLD might be another chance (desotogeorge on this site)

I take it that a cast iron will not do. Do you have a number for the transmission you want. The bolt holes must line up.

Catch ya later.

Thats what he is after

Very rare trans here and those with a spare one are reluctant to sell

I would think that it would be cheaper to ship hard parts over from the US rather than an entire trans. There are companies that have stock of such things. You could try:

And Neil likes these guys:

BigM might have what you need too but I don't know if he would be willing to separate out a trans into parts.

I offered a fully rebuilt unit I have coming, never heard back, guess my price was too high. Only when you get involved with rebuilding these cast trans do you realize the value I suppose.

Hello everyone and thanks for the input and replies, i have been able to find one that will get me out of trouble, just haven't had a chance to get back on here sooner. Thanks Owen, the price you offered for yours was reasonable, as you say to rebuild one of these trannys is very expensive , and time consuming when hunting for hard parts.
Cheers Sonny.
