Member Posts: 21 | Who do you use for insurance and how do you like them. Shopping around for my '56 Custom Royal and thought I'd ask to save some time. TIA, Craig

Elite Veteran Posts: 663 Location: Oakley, Ill | I have been with J.C. Grundy for more than 30 years. I had one claim--tornado dropped my garage on 2 cars. They sent an adjuster who actually knew what my cars were. he asked what I based my valuation on, and I told him Old Cars Weekly Value guide, as #3 car. He didn't argue, wrote me a check for the full policy amount on the spot.

Member Posts: 21 | Thanks! I have it narrowed to Grundy, Hagerty or JC Taylor. They seem to have great track records.

Regular Posts: 80 Location: Mid Atlantic | I have been with JC Taylor for 24 years, only had one claim for a chipped windshield in my Mustang about 10 years ago. I got the windshield replaced and they sent full amount for it. A former co worker of mine also used JC Taylor for his 67 Impala when he owned it. It had an engine compartment fire due to a bad fuel pump. They paid for everything except for a new fuel pump. Car was actually in better shape after the damage was repaired.

Expert Posts: 1728 Location: Fleetwood, Pa | I wonder what their reason was for not paying for the fuel pump??? I have a friend whose garage burnt down with his two antique cars inside. He has Hagerty Insurance. They not only paid the full insurance value for his antique cars, but they also paid for an everyday driver that was parked outside of the garage that didn't have comprehensive coverage on it. I was very surprised at that. Adjuster must have really felt sorry for his loss...... Edited by sidesho_bob1961 2015-05-19 3:00 PM

Your policy may have a similar Coverage Exclusion, which might apply to a defective item that actually causes an event's occurrence.

Veteran Posts: 110 Location: Falcon, CO | I have been using Continental Western Group for about 5 years now, and it has been very affordable (although I have never had a claim yet). My policy for a 1957 Dodge with full coverage, low deductible, and zero deductible glass is $100 a year for $10,000 worth of insurance. That also includes double the Colorado minimum required on bodily injury liability and property damage. It was about half of what some of the other companies quoted. They are licensed in 48 states the last time I checked. Don H.

Expert Posts: 2633 Location: Minor Hill, TN | I had Hagerty but since I had 2 fire claims on my black '61 I went to Condon and Skelly they have been good to me so far. It never hurts to get quotes go to the 1 that has that is best for you. Good luck Craig You can drive the car for pleasure with Hagerty . Hagerty you can drive up to 3000 miles a year Edited by 1961plymouthfury 2015-05-24 4:01 PM
