Can anyone recommend a gas front shock with the model number?

There is a thread here somewhere that lists a KYB shock for a Corvette that works on the '55 & (I think) the '56s with only an enlargement of a bolt hole in the mount.

Yes, I run the KYB's on the front of my 56 Dodge and my 56 Plymouth. The part number is KG4550. As Mopar1 said, you just need to enlarge the lower slots to accept the factory bolts.

Thanks for the clarification Mopar1, the "yes" to start my response was super-ambiguous. No that is not the correct thread jpc1956, but YES the KYB 'Vette shock is the correct one for the 55/56 Mopars as Mopar1 stated.
