Member Posts: 33 Location: Southern Oregon | Hi, I am trying to restore a 1956 Chrysler Imperial 2DHT and a 300B, but need a source for the following rubber seals: rear window, doors, side windows, trunk, and hood to cowl. If anyone has restored a '56/'55 Chrysler or Desoto, please contact with any info. about these items. I called Steel rubber company and they only had the front windshield rubber seal, but not the rest. I also sent two emails to Gary Goers, but no response. I would be very grateful for any help. Thanks, Bob Kruger

Veteran Posts: 119 | Gary goers is your best source. He doesn't respond to email or phone calls. Too many idiots and tire kickers in his past I guess. Download his catalog, fill out order form, mail in with generous check. In a month you will get your parts and a refund check for overpayment.

Member Posts: 33 Location: Southern Oregon | Thanks for your response and advise. I will be ordering an interior for the 300B from Gary but I need the rubber parts right away. There have been a lot of '56 Chrysler 2DHT's (300B, Imperial, New Yorker, etc.) restored which would have needed new rubber parts. I was hoping for other sources than Gary, because of the time aspect.

Expert Posts: 1530 Location: ZH, Switzerland | From Gary Goers I bought a set of rear window divider weatherstrip (between the front door window and the rear windows). The door perimeter weatherstrips I got from Kanter. They are apparently generic, but they fit very good. I saw a similar door perimeter weatherstrip at the photo collection of 1956 Imperials at IOC (Imperial Owner Club). I'm an owner of a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Newport, 2 door hardtop. If I need the ends of the door perimeter I'll fill out an order form from Gary with the parts numbers out of his catalog, calculate the total amount, transfer it via PayPal and send the order form with a free facsimile service at the internet. This way I got all the bumper cushions for the front axle and a glove box for my Beast (1956 Chry NY 2d ht).
Good luck with your restoration projects!

New User Posts: 1 | Maybe there's a solution for this old problem. A friend of mine (who is currently restoring a '58 Plymouth) told me that he found clips that will do the job after a little modification. They are too wide but if you cut them directly above the lower hole they will fit perfect.
