Hey Guys, Check it out ! I found a page in the 58 Dodge FSM, how to check the window opening before you go thru all the trouble of trying to install the window and find out it doesn't fit. This is particularly helpful if the mounting area metal was badly rusted and had to be replaced. It's pretty hard to replace that lip with new metal and retain OEM measurements. I had to replace that lip at the top of the roof where the top of the rear window seals. The FSM gives measurements of 21/64 to 33/64. clearance between the edge of the glass and that lip (FSM calls it a fence) I found a piece of wood that is slightly thicker than 5/16. I'm starting out with that to see how close I can get the window to fit before I start trimming. It's a royal PITA to get those short pieces of seal to stay in place, while setting the glass in place. I should have used 3 pieces of seal on the bottom and 3 on the top, like it says in the book. The pics will help clarify this. Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the post! I have to replace the left rear side pillar, on my 4 door, due to rust. I will remember to use three pieces of the old seal, top and bottom.

Hi Jerry,
I looked at my car yesterday...the bottom molding is held on by clips, that pass into the trunk. The top and sides "slip" into the rubber. I assume that this is the issue you are having? GM used the same system, at least on my '58 Caddy. It was the easiest way, with no screws or clips involved...

Brad
