Best talk to a paint shop

I would be inclined to use a baked enamel (its a harder paint)

The painted aero wheel I have here has cracked without any use (I didnt "restore" it), so good luck with yours

Thank you . My dad did use that on the wheel of my other '61 and it did not work to well . I am not sure why . He is going to primer the wheel 1st and then paint it . What do you think of red and white the wheel red and the center white or the wheel white and the center red with a pearl in both colors

I will be keeping the car in the garage and after the restoration it will go to the tint shop.
Here it is again with the horn ring put back on and installed back in the car. East wood carries steering wheel restoration kits.

woops, its square, I thought steering wheels were round, is that custom made or did it come like that, why square, must be hard to turn a corner, wont your hands fall off

Ahhh young grasshopper, you have much to learn (done in my best Chinese accent )

That is called an aero wheel, quite rare to find in good condition and very expensive to properly restore

Quite a few of the mopars had a square wheel in the early 60s, some aero wheels (also called sparkle wheels) and some wernt (no sparkle)

The square ones were for power steered cars and the manual steered cars got a round one ( also a sparkle wheel)

Here is a picture of my 2 60 areo wheels, one is NOS the other is a painted "restored" one and has cracked up without actually getting any use.

Not sure what was used to "restore" it though, as I didnt do it, but the plan is to make a mold using the NOS one and re casting the other one to fix it

I have the NOS one in my dodge at the moment and it was strange driving it with the square wheel

Definitely an experience
