I've decided to sell my 57 belvedere and offer it up first to the fine people here on the FL Network.

It's a California built 2dr hardtop, previous owner bought it in Oregon and brought to Michigan in 2001. Now a deep ruby red with black vinyl/red cloth interior, it's original colors were solid black with white vinyl/ black cloth interior. Engine is a 1969 383 with a 1962 727 b trans, pwr steering and pwr brakes.

It's a mild custom with 58 valence and grille emblem. Grille has been chromed along with bumpers and many trim parts. Highly polished mirror-like frt trim. Sure, it's real pretty but lets focus on the negative-

The floor is nearly perfect with old sound deadener over factory primer (adobe color), except for the rt front which is quite rusty. It may have had aftermarket A/C at some point and a hole in the firewall was never plugged, allowing water to settle in the rt frt floor recess. Also there are 2 small punctures in the lt frt floorboard, no idea what could have caused that. Peeling undercoating over the trans reveals still silver metal. Some minor surface rust in trunk.

Body is quite straight but shows the age of the 1990's restoration. Some chips, scratches and small blisters. Appears to have a rt 1/4 patch panel ahead of wheel. Back when it was still black the left qtr was replaced with a full oem replacement panel which has the name of a california dealer written in grease pencil inside. The repair was done very well and almost no filler is apparent.

I've gone over the entire car with a wafer thin, very weak magnet and have photos showing all areas that seem to have filler. The photo of the small repaired dent in the hood (visible from underside) shows how sensitive the weak magnet is. A strong magnet sticks everywhere I tried it.

I've driven it very little but it always braked and shifted just fine, however the brake pedal has begun to feel soft. The engine blows blue smoke when started but still sounds good and ran just fine when started this past weekend when it was 7 degrees below 0. Recent work done- fuel pump, pwr steering lines, drive shaft boot and new battery

The FL Network post from 2008 when I purchased it- http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20983&...

Basically this car is a nice but aged restoration, if you're looking to restore a 57 Plymouth this would be an ideal candidate. It runs and drives but would need everything to be trustworthy- all fluids, tune up, etc.

Winter price- $13,000.

If interested contact me through personal message, I'm happy to answer any questions

Nice ride. Something was off about the car...then realized the upright bars in the grille have been blacked out.

Its been for sale on eBay a couple of times but hasn't reached reserve. I also saw an ad on Craigslist and the new owner of 3 months wants $24K.. His description is different than the old owners.. Jason described it honestly while the new owner was talking about how only a little rust in one area and no bondo.
