Elite Veteran,, James Passed away March 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1028 Location: Melbourne, Australia | Which events are they Tom ? As its a long way for us to come , so any advice would be appreciated ! And Bob I agree doing both shows one week apart would be too hard . And my cars are unrestored , so I don't really have any good pics , plus they are not good enough for that ! I will keep you posted , but I think a convoy of aussies at Carlisle this year might have to be done !

Member Posts: 26 Location: Adelaide, Australia | I went to Carlisle this year. Fantastic event. Best car show that I have ever attended. A must do item for the bucket list! Came back via Denver to pick up my first forward look. a 57 Saratoga coupe. Highlights were -Daisy Duke wet T-shirt comp -Burn out comp -Dodge Hellcat display, not sure what was sexier, the car or the hellcat girls! -Dodge test drive cars, I tested a black Charger SRT8, I asked the hot little dodge girl how hard I could drive it, she said whatever I liked, big mistake, once sideways, was told not that hard! -meeting and having a drink and pics with the sexy Leah Pritchett -swap meet, dirt cheap parts! -local bars at nightime However the car show is that big that is is impossible to see everything, even if you are there for the 3 days! Location: North Australia | I would love to go to this car show. This might be my best chance to see the cars I love the most (I blame you lot for this ). This year is focused on FL cars right? Now, how do I get from the NT to Pennsylvania? I am going to start working on the missus today. Steve.

Location: North Australia | I think I am in on this. Any previous travellers please help out! What is the best way to go? Am thinking to drive from NY to Carlisle, and make a road trip out of it. Bob, why are you landing in Chicago, if you don't mind me asking? Steve.

Elite Veteran,, James Passed away March 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1028 Location: Melbourne, Australia | I think I am a definite pretty much also now . I will be flying to Los Angeles and looking at where is best to fly in on the east coast after that . New York is only a few hours drive , so I might fly in there , as I have to be back there the day after the show ends .

Member Posts: 26 Location: Adelaide, Australia | Steve That is what I did. Hired a car from NY and drove down. It is about a 3 hour drive. Book your hotel asap as they sell out real quick! You will need a GPS. I got a second hand one off Ebay and had it sent to the hotel that I was staying in NY. Matt

Location: North Australia | Thanks Matt, I have started to research for this trip. Who did you fly with? Can you recommend a place to stay? I intend to go for the 3 days so I should try to get accommodation close to the venue. If anyone else has tips on the best way to do this please jump in. I plan to stay in the US for 2 or 3 weeks to make a trip out of it and was thinking to take a drive around the area. I remember people commenting on how hot it was on a previous show, so that's good! What else is there to go look at in Pennsylvania and surrounding states? Steve.

Expert Posts: 1730 Location: Michigan | Quite a lot to see around there I would venture. I would use the Carlisle web site to link to the local hotel choices and make sure you look at sites like Travelocity or other big name travel sites to get ratings on the hotel before you purchase rooms. There usually is no refunds so that is your biggest challenge right now. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g28959-Activities-Pennsylvan... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g52311-Carlisle_Pennsylvania-Hote... I just typed into Google "what to see in Pennsylvania" and you will see a bunch of options come up. Make the most of your trip. Your coming here from a long way away so might as well see all you can in the week your here.

Expert Posts: 4589 Location: Northern New Jersey | For Those of you who haven't found a Place to stay yet, might I suggest a Bed and Breakfast nearby Called the Carlisle House. It costs nearly as much as a Chain hotel, and I much nicer. And its right in town, so You can Walk around town after you leave the showfield. It's a College town, So There are lots of Cool Things to do and some very Good restaurants. There is even a drive-in movie theater a short drive south of town. PM Me if you need any more Carlisle info.

Member Posts: 26 Location: Adelaide, Australia | Steve, I flew virgin, then American Airlines LA to NY. I stayed at the super 8 carslile south as that was one of the last places available that had decent comments about the cleanliness. There is really nothing available that is better than a 3 star. All the decent places will be booked out 6-7 weeks out from the show. The super 8 was a 2 star, clean, cheap ($60pn) however noisy aircon in every room! Yes it was very hot. 32-35 degrees 80% humidity every day. so coming from winter to that was hot. Matt

Location: North Australia | I haven't booked anything yet, except my holidays from work, But am on track to do this trip. Started looking at options for flights and see a few options. Looks like a good way to go is fly to Honalulu from Brisbane, then to NYC, 5 days there, then drive to Carlisle and stay there a week, then another week to find our way back to NYC, then home. Pretty sure 5 days in NY will be easy to fill, a week in Carslile with 3 days at the meet, but not sure what to do after that. Need ideas on where to go, what to see and do? Thinking a road trip along the coast, or go to the lakes? I am mad keen to go to Carlisle and see the cars and meet the FL family! Who else is in from Aussie and NZ?? Steve. Expert Posts: 1231 Location: York County, PA | Take a look at our American Automobile Association websites for a broad overview on travel planning in the US. Our AAA puts a lot of information. As far as airports, the closest and easiest to Carlisle is Baltimore Washington International (BWI), followed by Philadelphia International. These are about two hours away each. If you like boats, historic ships, and maritime activities, take a look at visiting the Chesapeake Bay, the Delaware Bay, and Virginia's Tidewater region. If you like history, Washington DC, Balltimore, and Philadelphia. I am not a big fan of NYC, see the real America as it used to be!!
