Would like to know what information is in the data plate of my 57 Dodge . I figured out the paint code (two tone green) and I'm guessing that the 1228 means that it was built on December 28, 1956. Would really appreciate help on what the other numbers mean. Thanks!

Now that the holidays are ending, is there someone that can help with this? I am the second owner of the vehicle and am finally beginning phase 1 of the restoration process. I drove the car daily from 1978 to 1996 and then only occasionally until Fall 2014 when I finally had the $$$ to start the work. Only 213,000 original miles!

You've got a Custom Coronet 2-dr HT(having the optional "Custom Coronet" interior motif) in the RARE-surviving color-combo of Green.

It was built on or around 12/28/57, having the manual-tune radio in it, but also has stone shields, 2-tone steering wheel, the plain wheel covers, back-up
lights, heater/defroster, LT o.s. mirror, and probably has other options as will be shown/listed on the car's Broadcast Sheet and on its IBM Build card.

You can buy a copy of the IBM Build Card (ordering instructions are shown on the two 'sticky' messages at the top of this message board, which will confirm
all of your car' all of your car's OEM options and equipment.

It would have been built around December 28, 1956, as it is a 1957 model.

Code 293 is for Torqueflite, and it has three other option codes. Don`t have the codes to hand at present as everything is still packed in boxes.

Thanks for all the info! When I bought it in 1978 it did not have a radio, just the radio delete plate. But I found a radio (and front antenna) for it in the early 80s that was repaired and has worked ever since. The other options mentioned all match. When I bought it, it also came with a day/night rearview mirror, a 325 Poly with the Stromberg and standard brakes and steering. There was no windshield wash, something I am "fixing" during the restoration. Chrycoman, if you happen to get to your codes to decipher the other options, I'd appreciate an update. And d500neil, I think I'll get the IBM Build Card ordered; thanks for the referral to the link.

Here are the IBM Build Card and Production Record for my car. I must have a pre-production model since the build date for the vehicle is listed as January 3, 1955! I'm guessing that it was sold in Du Quoin, IL, as I can't find a DuZuoin. FCA also provided a multi-page print-out of the models, trim, color and equipment options for the 1957 Dodges. That info is great! For those who haven't broken down yet and gotten the info for their vehicle(s), it is definitely worth it. Even though I got this all this from FCA nearly 4 months ago, they still haven't cashed my check. Maybe a freebie for selling me a 1987 Dodge Omni America Lemon in 1986???

The stamping is actually January 3, 1957.

More info to come; it's late, now.
