Trying to remove the cable from my 56 powerflite pushbutton at the tranny so I can pull the engine and tranny out for overhaul. Pulled the tranny pan and popped the pointy end of the spring that goes through the hole out, but I still cant remove this stupid cable. It comes out about 1/4" and then stops. Am I missing something? It is almost like it is hanging up on the o-ring that seals the cable to the tranny, but I have pulled on it with all of my strength and it will not come out.
Suggestions? This stupid cable is frustrating the heck out of me!

That clip retainer must be pried up/off the retaining groove to release the cable.

Got it out! the O ring was holding it up; I was able to pry it out of its groove and the cable slid right out.
The bad news is I lost the O ring. Anybody know sizing on those O rings?

Next time-- notch a V in the end of a flat blade screw driver and insert in thru the top of the neutral switch hole-push in slightly while you pull the cable out. The o'ring can be very hard to find. I took my old ring to a few parts stores, hardware stores and 3 trans. shops before i found the correct size that would hold up in trans. fluid.
